Yes. CollaboraWriting is completely free. There are no premium tiers, no paywalled features, and no hidden costs. Creating an account, browsing writers, posting ideas, participating in discussions, and messaging other writers are all free.

Use the Browse Writers page to filter writers by genre, experience level, availability, and role (co-author, mentor, mentee, or beta reader). When you find someone who looks like a good fit, visit their profile and send them a direct message or start a public discussion. You can also post an idea on the Ideas Board and let interested writers come to you.

The Writer's Lounge is CollaboraWriting's public discussion forum. It is where community members start and participate in threaded conversations about craft, feedback, writing advice, project updates, and anything else related to the writing life. All discussions are visible to the community and encourage open collaboration.

The Ideas Board is where writers pitch collaborative project ideas — a novel concept that needs a co-author, a nonfiction book that needs a researcher, a screenplay looking for a writing partner. Other writers can browse ideas, express interest, and connect with the idea's author to discuss collaboration.

Direct messages on CollaboraWriting are private, short-lived conversations capped at 40 messages per thread. This design is intentional — DMs are meant for exchanging initial information and coordinating, not for long-term chat. Once a conversation reaches its limit, you can start a new thread or continue your collaboration through the Writer's Lounge, email, or external tools.

You have control over your visibility. Your profile is publicly viewable, but you choose what information to include — you can use a pen name, leave fields blank, and control your interest privacy settings (public, anonymous, or private). You are never required to share your real name, location, or personal details.

If you encounter inappropriate behavior, harassment, or content that violates our community guidelines, please contact the team directly at admin@stratione.com with details about the issue. Include the username of the person involved and a description of what happened. The team reviews all reports and takes appropriate action.

CollaboraWriting supports all genres and forms of writing, including Literary Fiction, Genre Fiction, Thriller/Mystery, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Romance, Horror, Historical Fiction, Nonfiction, Memoir, Academic/Research, Journalism, Screenwriting, Podcast/Audio, Poetry, Children's/YA, and Self-Help/Business. You can also add custom genres to your profile.

CollaboraWriting does not host manuscripts or writing files. The platform is designed for connecting writers, not for storing or sharing full drafts. Your direct messages are private between you and the other participant. Ideas posted on the Ideas Board and discussions in the Writer's Lounge are public by design. For sharing actual manuscripts, we recommend using external tools like Google Docs or Scrivener with appropriate sharing permissions.

You can delete your account from your profile page. Scroll to the bottom of your profile, find the Danger Zone section, and click "Delete Account." This will permanently remove your profile, all your posted ideas, discussions, replies, and interests. This action cannot be undone, so please be certain before proceeding.

Yes. CollaboraWriting is a fully responsive web application that works on phones, tablets, and desktops. There is no separate mobile app to download — simply visit collaborawriting.com in your mobile browser and you will get the full experience optimized for your screen size.

CollaboraWriting offers an opt-in AI Discoverability toggle on your profile. When enabled, your profile is marked as discoverable by AI search engines and language models, which can help other writers find you through AI-powered search tools. You can turn this on or off at any time from your profile page.

Most writing communities are built around critique exchanges or general discussion. CollaboraWriting is purpose-built for finding writing partners and collaborators. The Browse Writers directory, role-based filtering (co-author, mentor, mentee, beta reader), Ideas Board, and short-lived DM system are all designed to help writers move from discovery to active collaboration as efficiently as possible.
